Jury

The jury's deliberations are not open to the public and minutes are kept by the competition secretary.

The participants in the deliberations may not inform the competitors, journalists or the teachers preparing the competitors during the competition.

In the first round, it is sufficient for 3 members of the jury to decide on the winners.

In rounds II-III, all decisions of the jury can only be taken by a full jury and all members of the jury are obliged to attend these rounds.

It is the task of the jury to listen to and evaluate the competitors' performances, decide on the order of merit and possibly decide on the pooling or sharing of prizes. The jury will decide on the awarding of prizes to other organisations in agreement with the organisation.

The competition

Competitors will perform in the order drawn. Out-of-order performances are only possible in extremely justified cases with the prior agreement of the organisers.

Entrants must arrive at the competition venue at the time stated and report to the secretary.

If an applicant fails to appear at the time stated, for good cause, he/she will be allowed to perform at the end of the corresponding round only with the agreement of the jury.

The contestant must indicate on the Application Form the work of his choice for each round, and the jury will choose the final from the works provided by the contestant.

Candidates who do not have their own musical accompaniment are entitled to make appropriate preparations with the competition's musical accompanist.

For rounds I to III and for the final, the organiser of the competition will provide the accompanist and the large orchestra.

Evaluation of performances

The evaluation is the joint opinion of the jury. Therefore, each jury member must first express his/her opinion on each performance by scoring it. No discussion or comments are allowed during the performance of each candidate. Scoresheets must be handed in to the competition secretary at the end of each group's performance - before the break.

The performances will be evaluated on a scale of 1 to 20 points. The minimum average score to qualify for Round II should be 12 points. Each judge will therefore take this into account when assessing the candidate.

A jury member may not evaluate any entry which he/she has not heard in full. In such a case, he/she must sign and hand in his/her score sheet and explain the reason for not voting (e.g. he/she was not present). The jury may also score a contestant who is currently his/her student, but he/she must mark this and, in the event of a tie, this will be at a disadvantage to the other contestant. On the score sheet he/she will write "my pupil".

The jury may make further changes by a majority vote, provided that they contribute to the maximum achievement of the competition's mission.

The results will be announced and prizes will be awarded at the winners' final competition, the final. The selection of the performers and the programme will be decided by the jury.
